   {16 bars}
(Note: The term is used in The West Kerry Set.)

DOUBLED or DOUBLE
-According to some experts, the double is supposed to be danced at the end
of figures of certain dances, such as the Clare Lancers, the Paris Set, and
the end of some hornpipe figures. Some experts say it would be a mistake
to say that it is usually danced at the end of most dances.
-Usually at the end of certain figures dancers will simplify the step, enabling
them to change feet twice as often during a bar. The couple has to turn faster,
and this imparts a flourish to the end of the figure.

STANDARD HOLD
  -see WALTZ HOLD

STANDARD POSITION
All four couples in their home locations in the Waltz hold, with outstretched
arms pointing toward centre of square.

SWING
-Use the appropriate swing hold for the set.
-Both partners place right foot on outside of other's right foot, both right
feet next to each other, about a few inches of the toes overlapping.
-Pivot on right foot, using left foot to turn.
-The term "swing" is used here to describe a movement that has at least
one other name. It is a movement in which a couple turn rapidly in place.
-The step is the simplest possible, with both the lady's and gent's right foot
coming down on the beat of the music. The left foot, which is used to propel
the dancer around, moves off the beat.
-Both dancers should face past each other, in the direction of the movement.
-If the couple keep their right feet in an instep-to-instep position less floor
space will be used and a neater effect achieved.

  -smooth slow swing:
at start : each partner in standard position
after 1st bar: each partner in other's position
after 2nd bar: each partner in standard position
after 3rd bar: each partner in other's position
after 4th bar: each partner in standard position
after 5th bar: each partner in other's position
after 6th bar: each partner in standard position
after 7th bar: each partner in other's position
after 8th bar: each partner in standard position
  -rapid swing:
at start : each partner in standard position
after each bar: each partner in standard position, with the beats of the
bar equally spaced across the rotation.

There are at least four holds for the swing.
    1. Waltz Swing
-Swing in the waltz hold (also called the standard hold).
-The standard hold is completely adequate and is recommended for
beginners. Fumbling for other holds can disrupt the flow of the dance.

   2. Polka Swing
      -Partner's face each other.
-With his left hand the man holds the woman's right elbow while she
catches hold of the man's left waist. On the other side, the woman
with her left hand holds the man's right elbow and the man holds the
       woman's left waist.
-Both partners pivot with their right legs and push with their left legs.

   3. Ceili Swing
-This is the same as the Polka Swing except that the dancers join their
left hands in front of themselves.
      -Partner's face each other.
-Each partner places his or her right hand around the left waist of his
       or her partner.
-Each partner's right arm goes over the other partner's left arm.

   4. Rapid Swing
-The lady and gent join right hands, holding them at chest level, and
with their left hands grip their partner's right elbows.
-each right hand has its fingers pressed tight together and these
pressed fingers roll around the fingers of the other's right hand tightly.

SWING (all the ladies)
1ST TOPS AND 2ND TOPS GENTS swing with all four ladies in turn, starting with
the ladies to their left. (Swing each lady for 7 bars, and use one bar to move
to next lady.) All four couples swing for last 8 bars.

(from the 4th figure of The Mazurka)

(from 3rd figure of The West Kerry Set)

  while dancing in place himself.

(from 2nd figure of The Lancers)

     restated:
